The Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society is a
non-profit organization founded in 1961.
The goals of the club are to enrich the lives of the community and the
surrounding areas by promoting popular interest and knowledge in geology,
mineralogy, lapidary and similar sciences.
We are affiliated with the California Federation of Mineralogical
Societies, and the national American Federation of Mineralogical Societies. Our activities include: A meeting the first Wednesday of the month;
Our Gem & Mineral Show occurs in November; Through the City of Oxnard,
Department of Recreation, we offer classes for our members and the public; We
arrange field trips to hunt for rocks. Currently, the three Ventura County Gem and
Mineral Societies are working together to build and collect rocks for over
300 “Rock Boxes”. These boxes will be
distributed to Ventura County Public Schools and the Ventura County
Library. The Rock Boxes will be used
by county educators to teach and get students interested in Earth Science. We
are located in the City of Oxnard, Ventura County, California. The
Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society is a
